Recent Promotions at CBH

From left to right Natalie Banacos, Jessica Ellis and Daniel Goldberg

Natalie Banacos, MS

Natalie was recently promoted to Senior Professional Research Assistant. She serves as a project manager and analyst for an Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H)-funded project, which examines ethical, legal, and social issues related to the development of novel medical devices. She also works on evidence synthesis and scoping reviews related to environmental health hazards with Lisa Bero, PhD.

Jessica Ellis, MS

Jessica will also now be serving as a Senior Professional Research Assistant. She works on three projects for the Center's Research team. Her day to day work includes qualitative interview coding for the ARPA-H project, where the team is exploring the ethics of ingestible devices to treat obesity and diabetes. She is also working on two projects with Christine Baugh, PhD. One examines financial relationships between medical faculty and drug or device companies; and the other investigates how parents make decisions about their children playing contact and collision sports.

Why is she looking forward to her new role? "I'm excited to use my research design and analysis skills from my MS degree to work with more faculty and explore a bigger variety of projects," she said.

Daniel S. Goldberg, JD, PhD

Daniel was recently promoted to full Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. "It's an honor to become a full professor," he said. "It remains less common for non-physician and non-scientist faculty to achieve the rank of Professor in a medical school, and I am so grateful to both the Department and the CU School of Medicine for creating a pathway for people like me. I am excited to serve in my new role!” Daniel is also Director of Education for the Center for Bioethics and Humanities, Director of Education at the Farley Health Policy Center and Director of the CU Public Health Ethics & Law Program (PHEAL).
