CU Anschutz to Host Emergency Training Exercise Oct. 1

Written by Staff | September 15, 2025

The University of Colorado Anschutz Police Department will conduct a scheduled emergency training exercise on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the CU Anschutz Parade Grounds.

The exercise is part of regular preparedness efforts designed to ensure CU Anschutz and its campus partners are aligned and ready to respond in the event of an actual emergency. These training events happen frequently and involve collaboration with Children’s Hospital Colorado, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, and local first responders, including law enforcement, fire and EMS.

During the drill, visitors and members of the campus community will notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel. Please be assured there is no actual emergency.

To support the training, the following closures will be in effect:

  • Street closures: E. 17th Place between Quentin St. and N. Racine St.; and N. Racine St. from E. 19th Ave. to E. 17th Pl.
  • Pedestrian access: N. Racine St. between E. 19th Ave. and E. 17th Pl. will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Parking: The Cheyenne Wells lot will be closed for the duration of the exercise.

The CU Anschutz Medical Campus thanks students, employees, patients, and visitors for their patience and cooperation during this important exercise.
