The CU Anschutz November Staff Employee of the Month is Melanie Mascorro, clinical sciences professional in the Department of Pediatrics.

Read Melanie's nominating statement:

For the past three and half years, Melanie Mascorro has been an integral part of the Section of Neonatology, bringing dedication, compassion and an unwavering commitment to supporting the babies and families cared for in the NICU. Melanie shares that she feels “incredibly grateful for the team I work with,” describing the women around her as hardworking, collaborative and united in their mission to provide the best possible care.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Melanie has made remarkable contributions that have significantly enhanced the section’s ability to serve diverse families. She spearheaded the development of a Spanish translation services program within the unit, an effort she single‑handedly manages. Melanie leads all Spanish‑speaking patient recruitment for research studies across the entire Section of Neonatology, a responsibility she has carried for more than three years.

Despite not receiving formal recognition for her bilingual expertise, Melanie continues to offer these services because she believes in equitable access to care and research. Her work has become indispensable to the section’s DEI‑driven research efforts and directly benefits the university’s mission to serve all communities.

Melanie’s commitment, initiative and generosity reflect the highest values of our campus community. Her contributions extend far beyond her role, making a tangible difference for families, researchers and colleagues alike.

Melanie, thank you for all you do. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.
