What to Expect in the Event of a Snow Closure

As temperatures drop and the hint of snow lingers, we want students, faculty and staff to know expectations for teaching, learning and working if campus is affected by inclement weather.  

If extreme weather is predicted that may significantly impact on-campus operations, as well as travel to and from campus, executive leadership will discuss a possible delay or closure considering these factors:  

• Weather forecast (e.g., amount of snow, winds, other aggravating/mitigating factors)
• Major roadway conditions in the metro area and around campus (I-225, I-70, I-270, I-25, etc.)
• Status of snow-removal operations on campus and ability to keep up with the predicted levels of snow anticipated that day
• Other area closures and safety conditions  

If the leadership team decides to close or delay university operations on campus, notifications will be sent by 5 a.m. when possible.

 How to stay up to date on weather related closures or delays

In the event of a campus closure, delayed start or early dismissal, you will receive a text message and/or email with current information.

• There will be an updated recorded message on the campus info line at 877-463-6070
• A message will be posted on CU Anschutz social media platforms
• The campus information will be listed with local broadcast stations

Hospitals and campus partners

As a reminder, changes in CU Anschutz operations do not affect the operations at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital or Children's Hospital Colorado. Hospital and clinic operations are normal unless otherwise announced by those facilities. Students, faculty and staff assigned to work in the clinics/hospitals on campus must report to work unless the hospitals or clinical sites announce changes in their operations.

What to do if you are already working remotely

During a closure or delay, employees already scheduled to work remotely should continue to work remotely as planned. Employees not scheduled for remote work on a day the campus should close or be on delayed start should plan to work remotely to the extent possible. Find out more here.
