AIANMHR Publishes New Issue of the Journal

Written by Yale School of Medicine | September 28, 2021

The Centers are proud to announce a new issue of American Indian and Alaska Native Mental Health Research. The latest issue of the journal explores many issues related to American Indian and Alaska Native peoples, utilizing a variety of methodologies and capturing important perspectives from Native peoples and researchers. In this issue:

  • Using a positive youth development framework, authors analyze survey responses from AI/AN youth and associations between risk and protective factors and significant mental distress
  • Using a community-based participatory research model, authors report on a needs assessment of the health needs of urban AI/ANs in North Texas
  • Using concept-mapping, authors examine the influencing factors for health care access among AI elders
  • Finally, Haozous and colleagues review the ethical and cultural issues of data sovereignty for urban-dwelling AI/ANs

We hope you enjoy the issue and find it helpful in considering the health of Native people.
