Written by Brittany Manansala | January 26, 2026

The University of Colorado Anschutz Department of Family Medicine is excited to announce that the Addiction Medicine Fellowship has successfully matched its incoming fellows for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The University of Colorado Addiction Medicine Fellowship  matched all four of their spots this year. These four physicians will complete a yearlong Fellowship focused on the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders across all ages and throughout Colorado. During the program, fellows gain experience in a broad range of clinical environments, such as inpatient consultations, residential treatment programs, opioid treatment services, telehealth, and street-based outreach medicine, among others. In addition, each fellow maintains a panel of patients in an outpatient addiction medicine clinic, providing ongoing care that spans from active substance use through sustained recovery.

The Addiction Medicine Fellowship has also recently grown to include a dedicated Rural Track, allowing up to two fellows each year to spend six-months of their training serving communities in the San Luis Valley. The Department of Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine Fellowship are delighted to welcome the following fellows:

  • Sarah Beaverson, MD – University of Colorado Family Medicine Residency
  • Kira Gressman, MD – University of Washington Emergency Medicine Residency, Rural Track Fellow
  • Alexa Trenschel, DO – HealthOne Family Medicine Residency- Aurora
  • Nealy Wooldridge, MD – UC Davis, Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residency

Congratulations to the University of Colorado Addiction Medicine Fellowship Class of 2027!
