Sarah Brewer, PhD, MPA, Co-Director of the Adult and Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) Training, Education, and Mentorship (TEaM) Core and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at CU Anschutz, is a co-author of the article, “Leveraging Brief Annual Pauses in Implementation: Using a Rapid Qualitative Approach to Inform Iterative Planning and Adaptation of a School-Based Asthma Program,” published by Cambridge University Press.
This article highlights asthma as one of the most common chronic conditions affecting children and underscores its link to significant health disparities. The Better Asthma Control for Kids (BACK) program aims to address these gaps by improving asthma management among students in high-need schools across four regions of Colorado.
From the article:
“We conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews (Dec 2023–June 2024) with key roles involved in BACK including school nurses, asthma navigators, and caregivers of participating students with asthma. Interviews and rapid qualitative analysis were informed by the Practical Robust, Implementation, and Sustainability Model (PRISM). We gathered perspectives, feedback, and recommendations about BACK to inform adaptation of the intervention and implementation strategy packages.”
