Written by Robert Thompson | January 12, 2024

On Thursday, January 11, a manuscript by Sarah Brewer (et al.) describing a Community Translation approach to develop COVID-19 messaging, as part of the CO-CEAL program for which Don Nease is MPI, was featured in the special supplement of the American Journal of Public Health (AJPH), which was developed in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL). This special issue, entitled “Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL): Leveraging the Power of Communities During Public Health Emergencies,” features 25 editorials and papers exploring community-engaged research during the COVID-19 pandemic and covers a range of topics, including an exploration of how to create effective community needs assessments and surveys to inform local COVID-19 mitigation strategies. Other articles focus on how to develop and test locally- and culturally relevant community engagement approaches, achieve sustained uptake of proven interventions, and examine strategies for building and sustaining community trust. Read the publication.
