Vivian Jiang, MD, Senior Instructor of Family Medicine at CU Anschutz, was featured in a UCHealth Today article celebrating the free monthly prenatal classes offered at the UCHealth Family Medicine – Westminster clinic.
These free, two-hour Westminster Prenatal Classes, affectionately referred to as “OB at Westy,” are held on the second Thursday of every month for expecting and postpartum mothers. Dr. Jiang, the Westminster OB team, and guest speakers cover essential topics such as exercise and nutrition during pregnancy, pelvic floor physical therapy, postpartum depression, and other pregnancy-related mood disorders.
When asked about the impact of these classes in the community, Dr. Jiang said, "I'm really excited for this article to come out. Publicity has honestly been our biggest hurdle, and this is such a great chance to help more of our patients and members of the local community discover that these classes are free and full of high-yield, valuable information. I hope it means more pregnant patients find their way to us and feel empowered to take charge of their own health."
The article also highlighted patient feedback and experiences from the classes, noting that they foster stronger connections with providers and fellow moms, provide a space outside of provider appointments to address additional questions and concerns, and empower mothers to advocate for themselves during childbirth and work toward the best possible birth experience.
