Oriana Cruz is a graduate from the College of Nursing at the University of Colorado. She is filling in at a hard-hit hospital in New York to try to help contain the novel coronavirus. “I actually am in the medical intensive care unit. By the time they get to the floor than I am on, they have already been through the emergency department and the people that I’m taking care of are really, really, really sick,” Cruz said.

Colorado Public Health Officials Seeing Rise of COVID-19 Cases Slowing Due to Distancing Measures

Scholarship for Nurses Established in Memory of Colorado Cancer Patient

Scott Ferguson was a lively and energetic father of one. After a battle with cancer and extended hospital stays, he developed a relationship with the nurses who were taking care of him. He passed away in April, and a nurses scholarship fund was started in his name at the CU College of Nursing. He received chemotherapy treatment for his Stage IV melanoma, and care for other issues as well.
