Could the cure for cancer really just be a year away?

That's what a bio-tech company out of Israel is claiming in a viral report from

.

The report says their drug will be cheaper and quicker than all current cancer treatment options. Another huge selling point is the claim it will have little to no negative side effects. Compared to chemotherapy, it sounds like a miracle.

Dr. John Tentler says it's more like false hope.

Tentler is an associate director of education at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. In an oversimplified description of his job, he's also working on producing drugs to fight cancer. He says this report is suspect, especially without any peer-reviewed data.

“I checked on their website; they haven’t published anything yet that I can see that would be referring to this type of anti-cancer drug,” Tentler said.

The news story says the company is in phase two of trials, testing their product on mice. That made a lot of doctors 11 News spoke with hesitant, saying the transition between mouse testing and human testing can be huge.

"Without evidence to show this has any efficacy, I’m afraid they are trying to get clicks on their website and interest in their company," Tentler said.

Aside from his suspicions, he says this is most damaging to the patients and family members of patients who are desperate to find a cure.

"I think, yeah, to give false hope without evidence and say it’s going to happen so quickly, in my mind, it is not ethical.”
