CU Anschutz Marks a Milestone in Physical Therapy

Written by Staff | July 08, 2024

The University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program graduated its first six students in 1948. Over the decades since, the program has attracted thousands of future providers to its rigorous training programs, including two new educational tracks launched over the past two years.

Ranked No. 1 in the Rocky Mountain region and No. 11 in the United States today, CU PT is drawing record numbers of applications from students across the country. The aspiring therapists are taking part in hands-on training opportunities afforded by the academic medical campus, such as the recent hybrid option and dual-degree track additions.

Texas native Yesenia Maddaford is one of those students. In her first year at CU PT, she is gaining the skills needed to improve lives and carrying forward her family’s focus on caring for others.

“I want to help improve the lives of others in a way that is meaningful for me and for them,” said Maddaford, who was drawn to the field after watching a physical therapist change the course of her mother’s post-stroke recovery.
