Survey completion leads to 35% participation rate

The Campus & Workplace Culture (CWC) Survey concluded Nov. 19, with 35% of our campus community taking part.

The survey's goal was to gather information about the experiences of our campus community members, identify strengths and areas of priority to achieve a more just, equitable and inclusive culture at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

In total, just over 4,500 of CU Anschutz students, faculty, staff and trainees took part in completing the CWC survey.

Led by the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement and the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the survey was part of a broader effort underway on all four CU campuses.

$15,000 in survey completion “Greater Good Funding” going to community organizations

As part of the effort to encourage participation, CU Anschutz leadership made $15,000 available in incentive funding for five organizations serving our campus and community.

Heartened by the healthy response among the campus community, the campus leadership team chose to make the full amount of funding available to these deserving groups - whose work and missions make a meaningful difference for members of our campus and the broader community.

"We were pleased to see that so many members of our campus community took the time to make their voices heard as part of this survey effort. Those who shared their experiences not only informed our efforts to enrich our campus but also made a difference for these organizations and those they serve,” said Regina Richards, PhD, MSW, associate vice chancellor of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement.

What’s next? Reporting and analysis, results shared with regents

With survey results compiled, the next step is for staff in the CU Denver | Anschutz Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE) and CU Anschutz Office of Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Community Engagement to analyze the results.

That analysis will generate a report detailing findings and recommendations to help amplify existing areas of strength, while also providing a starting point to address any areas of concern on campus.

As Chancellor Elliman detailed in the State of the Campus address, diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to the campus strategic initiatives

Action plans based on survey results will be developed for CU Anschutz to align with the work of the campus strategic initiatives and progress will be monitored through resulting initiatives and future surveys — currently scheduled to occur every four years.

Additionally, the compiled data from the survey results will also be shared with the CU Board of Regents in early 2022.
