Have Questions About Bringing a Service Animal on Campus?

Written by Kiley Carroll | December 09, 2020

Have you ever been curious about bringing your furry friend to work with you? Did you know that the University has an Animals on Campus Committee (AOC) consisting of representatives from the University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Office of Laboratory Animal Resources, Disability Resources and Services, Human Resources, University Risk Management, and Legal departments? Please take note that there have been some recent updates to the Animals on Campus Administrative Policy, encompassing service animals, service animals in training and emotional support animals.

Mark Douse, PhD, Chair, AOC and director of the IACUC Office says of the new policy, “The Animals on Campus Committee is happy to have this updated policy in place to provide guidance to the campus community regarding when and how it is appropriate for animals to be on campus, as well as protect the rights of individuals who require the use of a service animal.”

If you wish to bring animals on campus for an event or University-sponsored program, please review the policy. You may also email the Animals on Campus Committee at: aoc@ucdenver.edu with additional questions or inquiries.
