Pilot Program to Allow Earlier Course Registration at CU Anschutz, CU Denver

Written by Kristen O'Neill | April 28, 2021

The University of Colorado system office has announced a new Tuition Assistance Benefit pilot program that will allow earlier course registration for eligible faculty and staff on most University of Colorado campuses. The pilot program, part of the CU System’s Tuition Assistance Benefit, takes effect on July 1, 2021, and will be applicable as of the Fall 2021 semester.

Eligible employees taking CU Anschutz eligible courses or CU Denver graduate courses may register seven days prior to the first day of the semester or the first day of class, whichever is earlier, or for CU Denver undergrad courses, on the first day of class. Previously, faculty and staff using the Tuition Assistance Benefit had to wait to register until the first day of their chosen course.

Eligible employees are defined as employees in regular, benefit-eligible positions with a 50% or greater appointment. Additionally, qualified dependents may also make use of the Tuition Assistance Benefit on all CU campuses, and are defined as eligible employee spouses, common-law spouses, civil union partners, same-gender domestic partners, and dependent children up to age 27.

Under the terms of the Tuition Assistance Benefit, eligible employees are not allowed to register for undergraduate classes at CU Denver prior to the first day of the course. More information can be found in the “Register for Your Courses” section on the CU Denver | Anschutz Tuition Assistance Benefit guidance webpage. Waitlisting CU Denver courses is not permitted when using the Tuition Assistance Benefit, including early- and late-start classes.
