Strength in Unity: CU Diabetes Research Center Boosts Collaboration

Written by Guest Contributor | May 09, 2022

After overcoming the challenges of setting up a program as the pandemic descended on Colorado, the University of Colorado Diabetes Research Center (DRC) seems to be hitting its stride.

For the past two years, diabetes investigators across the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus have been uncovering new ways to collaborate, while interest in grant programs supporting promising diabetes researchers continues to grow.

A distinction awarded to the top 16 diabetes research programs in the nation by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, DRC-designated programs receive five years funding to advance multidisciplinary diabetes research at their respective institutions.

Lori Sussel, PhD, the Sissel and Findlow Family Endowed Chair in Stem Cell Research at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, serves as director of the CU-DRC. We checked in with the accomplished researcher to learn more.
