‘Denver Kids vs. Big Tobacco’ campaign wants to protect the city’s ban on flavored tobacco

“Eighty percent of children report that their first exposure to an inhaled tobacco product or e-cigarettes was flavored,” said Dr. Monica Federico, [professor of pediatrics at University of Colorado School of Medicine and] a pediatrician specializing in lung health at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Flavors disguise the taste and the harshness of the tobacco, she said, making them appealing and easier for new users to try.
