Funding cuts for childhood brain tumor research leave Colorado clinical trials in doubt

Written by Colorado Newsline | September 17, 2025

Federal funding cuts from the National Cancer Institute will shut down the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium by March 2026, impacting key pediatric cancer trials. Children’s Colorado has been in the consortium for the past 10 years, and the doctors who work on its studies, including Lia Gore, MD, section head of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Rajeev Vibhakar, MD, and Holly Lindsay, MD, both neuro-oncologists, say they are looking for options to continue trials that are affected by the cuts.
