Written by Brad Bobel | May 09, 2025

Assistant Professor Sara Wettergreen, PharmD, from the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences was honored with the 2025 Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society Faculty Advisor Award for her unique contributions and accomplishments. This national award underscores Dr. Wettergreen’s unwavering commitment to mentorship, leadership development, and academic excellence within CU Pharmacy’s Rho Chi chapter.

Wettergreen has been instrumental in shaping the future of pharmacy professionals, guiding students through the challenges and opportunities of their academic and professional journeys. Since assuming the role of co-advisor of the Rho Chi Alpha Theta chapter in 2019—encouraged by her mentor, Dr. Jennifer Trujillo—she has helped elevate the chapter’s success to new heights. Under her leadership, the chapter has earned national recognition, securing the Most Improved Chapter Award in 2021 and the Chapter Achievement Award in 2022. Reflecting on her achievement, Wettergreen said, “I’m incredibly honored and humbled to receive the Rho Chi Advisor of the Year Award. It has been a privilege to support such an outstanding group of students and see their dedication to excellence flourish.”

While the Rho Chi Induction Ceremony was a celebration of academic achievement and perseverance, Wettergreen’s recognition added even greater significance to the evening. Inductees walked across the stage, receiving their official membership into the prestigious honor society, a tradition rooted in scholarly dedication and service to the profession. Faculty, family, and friends applauded the students’ accomplishments, while also taking a moment to recognize Wettergreen’s contributions to the chapter’s ongoing success.

With their new membership, Rho Chi students continue the tradition of lifelong learning and professional growth. As they step into leadership roles within the pharmacy field, they do so with the steadfast guidance of mentors like Wettergreen, whose impact will resonate for years to come.
