Colorado may boast 300 days of sunshine, but the CU Anschutz Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Convocation arrived under rare conditions: steady rain, gray skies, and even a freeze watch in the forecast. What was planned as a large outdoor celebration shifted overnight into an indoor ceremony, thanks to the swift coordination of faculty and staff who ensured the event remained worthy of the occasion. Their efforts transformed an unexpected challenge into a meaningful gathering filled with warmth, excitement, and pride.
That spirit was evident as 102 graduates from the Doctor of Pharmacy, North American-Trained PharmD, and International Trained PharmD programs crossed the stage. Years of rigorous coursework, clinical training, early mornings, late nights, and personal sacrifice culminated in that moment. Families and friends cheered enthusiastically as each name was announced, filling the room with emotion and the promise of new beginnings.
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Michael D. Wolcott, PharmD, PhD, opened the ceremony with welcoming remarks before introducing Dean Brian Tsuji, PharmD, who encouraged graduates to carry forward the values and excellence associated with CU Anschutz Pharmacy. He emphasized that earning a degree from such a distinguished institution positions graduates to make meaningful, lasting contributions to healthcare.
Student speaker Jay‑Quan Dill reflected on the Class of 2026’s shared journey, friendships formed, challenges overcome, and the resilience that defined their time at CU Anschutz Pharmacy. He highlighted the evolving role of pharmacists and the critical impact this class will have on patient care and health outcomes.
The ceremony also recognized the families, friends, and supporters whose encouragement and sacrifices played an essential role in each graduate’s success. Their steadfast support was acknowledged as a cornerstone of the students’ achievements.
As graduates move into residencies, fellowships, professional roles, and advanced training, they carry with them a deep commitment to serving patients and improving healthcare for all. The Class of 2026 is prepared to lead, innovate, and create lasting change in the field of pharmacy.
