 "Allocate Holiday Time Off Fairly"

FPM

November 2025

Jennifer Corliss, MD, FAAFP, Medical Director of Lone Tree Primary Care and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, is the author of a Practice Pearl article, “Allocate Holiday Time Off Fairly,” published in the November/December issue by the Family Practice Management (FPM) Journal.

From the article:

“Holidays are a common time for physicians to take scheduled time off, and practices should encourage it as an important component in maintaining well-being. However, practices also have to ensure that patients have sufficient access to care and that holiday time off is distributed fairly.

Our large primary care practice developed a structured approach that incorporates clinicians’ holiday preferences while maintaining adequate access, thereby supporting physician wellbeing and reducing the strain of holiday coverage.”

Read more of the structured approach through the Family Practice Management (FPM) Journal.
