The Primary Care Diabetes Lab (PCDL) in the Department of Family Medicine recently had a manuscript published by Clinical Diabetes. The manuscript, “Experiences of People with Type 1 Diabetes Using the iLet Bionic Pancreas in Primary Care: A Qualitative Analysis,” describes qualitative findings from interviews with adult participants with type 1 diabetes using multiple daily injections who participated in the first primary care based clinical trial with the iLet Bionic Pancreas (Beta Bionics, Concord, MA). The PCDL findings revealed five major themes describing initial concerns, lack of control and trust with the device, psychological and behavioral changes, change in social interactions and routine, participant satisfaction with device performance, and participant interest in future pump and device use.

Dr. Tamara Oser, director of the Primary Care Diabetes Lab, is the lead PI for the study/manuscript.  tamara-oser2
