Vail mountains

We have exciting news to share with the palliative care community!  The Shaw Cancer Center’s Shaw at Home has won the 2025 Association of Cancer Care Centers Innovation Award.

Shaw at Home serves the community of Vail, Colorado and surrounding towns including Edwards.  In a rural mountain community, this program provides much needed palliative care to those who are living with serious illnesses.  The clinicians at Shaw Cancer Center and Shaw at Home are locals, and they take care of their community with compassion and skillful healing.

The program is the passion project of one of our MSPC certificate graduates, social worker Erin Perejda, and her team at the Shaw Cancer Center.   Nurse practitioner Katie Jones, 2023 MSPC graduate, works alongside Erin to develop Shaw at Home.  Suzy Black, a nurse who provides care in the home for Shaw at Home, recently graduated from the MSPC in May 2025.

The MSPC leadership and faculty would like to share Shaw Cancer Center/Shaw at Home’s success and strong palliative care presence in the rural mountain community.  Congratulations on a well-deserved accomplishment!
