WHAT: Colorado Free Application Day$ waives application fees at participating Colorado colleges and universities. CU Nursing will waive the supplemental application fee for all students who qualify. NursingCAS fee waiver codes will be provided to the first 100 eligible students who complete the waiver request form.
WHO: There are certain eligibility requirements to participate, including being a Colorado resident. Students also must be applying for CU Nursing’s Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (TRAD) (Summer 2024 start) or Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (UCAN) programs (Fall 2024 start). WHY: The University of Colorado System had 20,451 applications across three of the four campuses during last year’s Free Application Day$. This is the first time CU Nursing will participate since the initiative started six years ago. Last year, Colorado Free Application Day$ had 63,976 applications. Of those, 45% were submitted by students of color and 34% were from first-generation students.
“We are excited about the opportunity this presents for prospective students to save money in the college application process. We are hopeful that our participation in the Colorado Free Application Day$ will encourage the best and brightest to apply to CU Nursing,” CU Nursing Director of Admissions and Student Affairs Kristi Rodriguez says.
“This program not only helps students reduce the expense involved with applying to nursing school, but also encourages early application so that our team has ample time to work with students to ensure their applications are complete before we start reviews."
WHEN: Colorado Free Application Day$ is Tuesday, October 17 – Thursday, October 19. Prospective students must start their NursingCAS application before Monday, October 16.
