Sheridan Health Services received two prestigious CHQR badges from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to recognize the clinic’s notable quality improvement achievements.
The Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) badges recognize health center programs that have achieved quality improvement in access, clinical quality, health outcomes, and health information technology. Sheridan Health Services received the 2025 National Quality Leader in Behavioral Health Award and is a 2025 Health Center Program Awardee for Improving Access to Care.
Sheridan Health Services includes nurse-led clinics affiliated with the University of Colorado College of Nursing, providing primary care, obstetrics, mental health, substance use treatment, and dental care services to patients of all ages. The community health centers offer coordinated physical and mental health services to all patients, regardless of a patient’s financial situation.
Annual exams, sports physicals, vaccinations, and dental cleanings are routinely available for health maintenance. Sheridan Health Services also includes an affordable on-site pharmacy that is part of the 340b Drug Pricing Program, that lowers the cost of medications for patients.
CHQR badges are awarded annually based on the latest Uniform Data System reporting year. To earn a CHQR badge, health centers must meet CHQR badge eligibility, and the criteria outlined for each badge.
Sheridan Health Services was also recognized in the top quartile for childhood immunization rates, depression remission at 12 months, and controlling high blood pressure.
Improving Access to Care in Denver
According to a report in the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, 68% of Coloradans delayed or went without care in 2024 due to cost, with low-income families disproportionately affected.
Staff members at the Sheridan clinics assist qualifying patients with Medicaid registration. Sheridan Health Services also offers discounted services, including a sliding scale discount program that provides discounted costs based on a patient’s income. Many of the staff and clinicians are bilingual and can assist non-English speakers.
Sheridan’s clinic providers also support patients managing trauma, respecting each patient’s unique background and experiences.
“These recognitions reflect our unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate, and accessible healthcare to all members of our community, regardless of their financial circumstances,” says Dr. Erica Sherer, Executive Director of Sheridan Health Services. “By integrating physical and mental health services, leveraging programs like the 340b Drug Pricing Program, and supporting adults, children, and families with bilingual staff and trauma-informed care, we strive to break down barriers and improve health outcomes for those we serve.”
Sheridan Health Services operates the CU Family Health Clinic at 3525 West Oxford Avenue, Unit G1 in Denver. The CU Youth Health Clinic is connected to the Sheridan School District at 4107B S. Federal Boulevard in Englewood. Both practices are open five days a week.
