After Three Decades of Service, Dr. Daniel Jacobson to Retire in July 2026

Written by CU Anschutz OB-GYN | May 08, 2026

After nearly three decades of caring for patients and becoming a trusted presence in countless lives, Daniel Jacobson, MD, has announced his retirement, effective July 1, 2026. In a heartfelt letter to patients, Jacobson reflected on a career defined not only by clinical care but also by the deeply personal relationships he formed along the way,  sharing in milestones from births to losses and in the quiet resilience of everyday life.

Dear Patients and Friends,

After nearly thirty extraordinary years of caring for patients, I am writing with a full heart to share that I will be retiring effective July 1, 2026. What a journey it has been. It has been the honor of my lifetime to walk alongside you and to be welcomed into your lives, your stories and your care. I would not trade a single day of it.

I am profoundly grateful for the trust you placed in me. You invited me into your medical journeys and, so often, into the moments that mattered most. This included the births and the losses, the victories large and small and the quiet courage of ordinary days. The relationships we have built have shaped me in ways words cannot fully capture. You have been, quite simply, the greatest privilege of my professional life.

This has been a wonderful, deeply fulfilling chapter and I now look forward with excitement to whatever the next one holds. New rhythms, new adventures, more time with the people I love. And, I hope, the chance to keep learning and growing in ways this season of life makes possible.

I leave knowing you are in truly excellent hands. I have complete confidence in my colleagues, who share the same commitment to thoughtful, attentive, high-quality care you have come to expect. You will be well looked after.

So I close with a full heart, a deep bow of thanks, and every good wish for you and those you love. Be well. Be kind to yourselves. And may the years ahead bring you health, joy, and abundant goodness.

With sincere gratitude,

Daniel Jacobson, MD
