2023 Alumni Highlights! A Year to Remember

Written by Jaron Bryant | December 04, 2023

It was a tremendous year with a variety of activities that kept alumni returning back for more. In addition to alumni featured in spotlights each month, a robust schedule of events drew alumni back to their alma mater. Here's what 2023 had to offer:

January 20

It was an alumni huddle at the National Stock Show during CU Night at the Rodeo. The day brought alumni in touch with over 500 vendors, a petting farm, and an abundance of livestock exhibits.

February 23

CU Pharmacy transformed its regular lunch and learn into an Alumni Association panel discussion in the topic “Navigating the Pharmacy Profession: Leading with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” in honor of Black History Month. Hosted by the CU Pharmacy Alumni Association, in collaboration with the Career Services Office and the School’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the event provided the opportunity for students to network with alumni and ask questions about their journey in the pharmacy profession.

March 26

Alumni gathered with other CU Pharmacy friends in Phoenix, Arizona at Ingo’s Tasty Food for the APhA Alumni and Friends Breakfast, during the annual APhA Conference.

April 4

The CU Pharmacy Alumni Association launched the Alumni Ambassador program. The program aligns alumni with volunteer opportunities that contribute to recruitment efforts and bridging relations in the community.

April 20

CU Pharmacy celebrated, for the second year, its Alumni Heroes at a gathering in Greenwood Village at Pindustry. The Alumni Heroes program recognizes alumni who give back and support the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, whether they have mentored a student, volunteered in their community, served on the frontline, or provide an example of the best of the healthcare professions.

May 11

Alumni gathered at the Blue Moon Brewery in the Denver RiNo neighborhood for the Spring 2023 CU Pharmacy Alumni Forum. This semester event featured Associate Dean for Operations Dr. Gina Moore providing an update on the latest developments in legislative advocacy as it relates to the pharmacy profession.

May 22

Class of ’76 alumna Deb Devereaux offered alumni remarks during the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2022, ushering in the newest members of the CU Pharmacy alumni.

July 1

Dr. Monika Nuffer joins the alumni association board as it’s newest member to complete a three-year term of office.

August 12

There was standing room only as the Class of 2013 came together to celebrate their 10-year class reunion at the Lowry Beer Garden.

September 22

Dr. Brett McQueen assembled alumni and current graduate students within the CePOR doctoral program to look at successes over the past year and address new opportunities to grow the program.

September 29

The 1st annual CU Pharmacy Expo attracted students and alumni, offering them the chance to network and take advantage of career development opportunities. The event was hosted by Career Services in collaboration with the Alumni Association.

September 29-30

The CU Anschutz All Alumni Weekend provided activities for alumni to reconnect with classmates, meet alumni from various healthcare professions, and learn about the innovative work of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Events included a Day at the Denver Zoo and Happy Hour at Pindustry.

November 3

The Alumni Association honored the recipients of the 4th annual Alumni Awards. This year's honorees were Susan Finstrom, RPh '86, Kristin Holmes, PharmD '13, and Paul Limberis, RPh '79.

November 4

CU Pharmacy alumni returned to CU Buffs territory during the annual homecoming tailgate/game on the CU Boulder campus.

Familiar and new faces herded the Koenig Alumni Center to revisit their alma mater and fill Folsom Field for the CU Buffs football game.

November 10

Members of the Class of 2003 reunited for their 20-year milestone with a tour of the CU Anschutz Campus, followed by dinner at the RiNo Blue Moon Brewing Company.

November 15

We encourage all CU Pharmacy alumni to become an active part of happenings at the School through the alumni association. Take advantage of the multiple opportunities available to stay involved with your alma mater.
