Sara Wettergreen is this month's Mile High Meetup.

Behind every successful pharmacist is a dedicated and devoted faculty member who provided guidance and knowledge along the way. Pharmacy educators are able to bring their own unique experiences and leadership into the classroom, offering personalized courses and hands-on assessments. They not only take time in the classroom, but connect on a personal level, offering mentorship and tutoring to students throughout their entire pharmacy education.

That option for variety, and the fusion of many different healthcare interests is one of the many reasons Assistant Professor Sara Wettergreen, PharmD, found her passion for academia early on in her pharmacy career.

Her interest led to an academic rotation in her first year of residency, opening doors to leadership roles, involvement in multiple professional organizations and becoming a pharmacy tutor to other students. For her, it's all about helping students find their path and their "why" within pharmacy.

“It's amazing to see those nuggets of mentorship and pearls that you give along the way. They lead from one thing to another, along with the student's hard work, to their ultimate goals and career goals.”

In her eight years of teaching, Dr. Wettergreen has been monumental in going above and beyond for her students, most recently getting recognized for her dedicated work in student-faculty mentorship. "It's almost a pay- it forward mentality that I pursue with mentoring. I want to help students find their career path but also help them be prepared for their next steps."

Academia is just one of the specialties that you can pursue with a Doctor of Pharmacy.
