Congratulations to the Rho Chi - Alpha Theta Chapter at The University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy! The organization received the Chapter Achievement Award during the American Pharmacists Association’s (APhA) Annual Meeting and Expo in Nashville, TN for all the great work they did in 2017, and continue to do. The chapter submitted materials showcasing the initiatives and activities the organization undertakes throughout the year, "Kristi Smith, our student chapter president last year worked so hard to submit the materials for this award and Briana Williams, our current student president, worked hard this year to put together a wonderful video that summarized all the great work our chapter is doing. I’m so proud of these students, it’s been wonderful to serve as the faculty advisor for this group!" Says CU Pharmacy faculty member and advisor for Rho Chi, Jennifer Trujillo, PharmD.
“It was an honor to accept the Chapter Achievement Award on behalf of our Rho Chi Alpha Theta chapter and I am thankful for the opportunity I have been given to help lead this organization. We won this award due to the hard work and dedication of the current and past Rho Chi leaders that have planned and executed many successful events throughout the year. I look forward to the next year where I will represent University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy on the national Rho Chi executive council.” Added 2018 Rho Chi President Briana Williams.
The purpose of the Rho Chi Chapter Awards is to initiate and promote activities at the local level that advance pharmacy and add value to the Rho Chi member's experience. Rho Chi - Alpha Theta at CU Pharmacy pays special attention to activities to ensure student success during pharmacy school and beyond. The organization tutors fellow students, hosts a Success Series that includes tips for succeeding in pharmacy school, coordinates mock interviews to help students land rotations and residencies and provides sessions on different paths students can take with pharmacy - such as industry and nuclear pharmacy. In addition, Rho Chi hosts immunization refresher courses and holds several philanthropic events throughout the year.
