On Saturday, Nov. 5, students from CU’s Student National Pharmacist Association (SNPhA) hosted a health fair at Paris Elementary that served more than 100 families living in the Aurora area. The fair was free and open to the public.
“Paris Elementary Health Fair has been an annual SNPhA event for many years now, and our officers plan every detail from start to finish,” said Hlee Lor, CU’s SNPhA president. “Our goal was to make the event even bigger this year, and we are thrilled with the results of our hard work!”
More than 50 volunteers helped with the event, which featured a variety of informational and interactive booths, including cholesterol readings, smoking cessation, blood pressure readings, and tables where families could learn more about healthy eating, dental hygiene, compounding and create their own stress balls. The Tri-County Health Department also offered free flu shots to those who wanted them.
"Our mission as an organization is to reach out to better the underserved population, and this initiative does just that,” said Karly Powell, SNPhA vice president. “It is a very rewarding opportunity that all the volunteers enjoy thoroughly."
