TalkPharmacy | Tips for P-4 Rotations | Ep. 2

minute read

by Matthew Kaskavitch | July 28, 2015

Third-year CU pharmacy student Ahsun Babalmorad hosts the second podcast episode of Talk Pharmacy and interviews Alamosa native and fourth year pharmacy student David Gurule about preparing for P-4 rotations or APPEs.

Gurule’s first rotation at University of Colorado Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Katy Trinkley includes rounding with physicians, counseling patients, and providing input on potential drug interactions. His advice prior to each APPE is to prepare by reaching out to the preceptor and inquiring as to the type of patient the practice site sees, familiarize oneself with lecture notes for those disease states, locate guidelines so that you have a solid basis when seeing patients and brush up on communication skills. Stay tuned for the third episode.
