CU Anschutz has officially acquired the Benson Hotel and Faculty Club, the landmark property adjacent to campus that many faculty, staff, partners, patients and visitors already know well. The hotel will be managed by Sage Hospitality, a nationally recognized Denver-based hospitality company known for excellence in service and guest experience.
“The Benson Hotel is truly part of our front door,” said Don Elliman, chancellor of CU Anschutz. “It’s a place where we welcome visiting partners, recruit faculty, host events, and provide a comfortable home base for patient families. Owning this exceptional hotel allows us to ensure it continues to support our mission as a world-class academic medical campus in meaningful ways.”
The Benson Hotel was acquired for $22.5 million and reflects a strategic investment in the campus’s future and one that strengthens a space already central to daily campus life at CU Anschutz.

Home to the CU Anschutz faculty club, the Benson Hotel has long served as a gathering point for faculty, leadership, industry partners and visiting scholars. The hotel has offered a modern venue for a host of campus events and provided a welcoming, convenient option for staff, students, patients and families ‒ particularly those who need to remain close to UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Looking ahead, CU Anschutz anticipates expanding the hotel’s role in supporting extended stays for patients and loved ones, keeping families close during care while enhancing the compassionate, patient-centered experience our campus is known for.
