Facilities Management Honors Standout Team Members

Quarterly awards recognize excellence in safety, service and dedication

Facilities Management celebrated outstanding team members at its quarterly awards ceremony on Thursday, March 27. Recognizing individuals and teams who go above and beyond in safety, customer service and dedication, these awards highlight some of the many hardworking staff who keep the CU Anschutz Medical Campus running smoothly. 

“We’re proud to recognize the outstanding contributions of our facilities team this quarter," said Jay Campbell, Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management and Planning. "These awards highlight the commitment our staff show every day to safety, customer service and collaboration—and it’s that dedication that keeps our campus running smoothly and safely for everyone.”

Award Recipients: 

Safety Champion Award: Recognizes staff for their commitment to workplace safety, ensuring that protocols are followed and risks are minimized. Awardees are recognized for taking a proactive approach to creating a safer environment for both Facilities Management staff and the broader campus community.

  • Cayleb Woods, Lead Preventative Maintenance Technician II 

Customer Service Award: Conferred to those who exemplify top-tier customer service, consistently going above and beyond to support both internal and external stakeholders. Awardees are recognized for positive interactions and problem-solving skills, strengthening trust and collaboration across campus.

  • Sam Avila, Lead Preventative Maintenance Technician II
  • Ernest Ford, Engineering Physical Sciences Technician II

Extra Mile Award: Honors those who consistently exceed expectations and step up in critical moments to provide excellent service. Awardees are recognized for willingness to take initiative and solve problems, tackling unexpected challenges and providing seamless support to colleagues and the broader campus community.

  • Dave Thorson, Assistant Manager of Engineering

Team Award: Recognizes an exceptional team for support and contributions to Facilities Management and the broader campus community. Awardees are honored for collaboration, teamwork and a shared commitment to excellence.
