CU’s School of Medicine in Aurora is getting a new dean, and he wants his staff to disagree with him

John Sampson, MD, PhD, has assumed the role of dean at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, succeeding John J. Reilly Jr., MD, who served in the position for nine years. Sampson, a neurosurgeon from Duke University, began his tenure on July 1, 2024, with plans to enhance the school’s reputation and attract top talent. He remains committed to treating patients with glioblastoma, a severe brain cancer, while focusing on leadership, improving faculty and staff experiences, and addressing challenges like the high cost of medical education.
