CU Cancer Center member Sachin Wani, MD, Katy O. and Paul M. Rady Esophageal and Gastric Center Chair and professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, highlighted that about 0.3% of people with Barrett’s esophagus develop esophageal cancer each year, making screening for Barrett’s crucial for detecting the disease.
