The aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma is in a lot of Google searches this week: Former NBA player Jason Collins, 47, announced Thursday that he has been diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma, and “Confessions of a Shopaholic” author Sophie Kinsella died on Wednesday at age 55, two years after her glioblastoma diagnosis.
So what exactly is a glioblastoma, and why are so many young people being diagnosed with the brain cancer? We sat down with University of Colorado Cancer Center member Douglas Ney, MD, professor of neurology and neurosurgery in the CU Anschutz School of Medicine, to learn more.
