ASHG Announces 2025 Professional Award Recipients

Rockville, Md. – The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) congratulates the recipients of the ASHG 2025 Professional Awards, honoring outstanding scientific achievements in genetics and genomics education, mentoring and application of research for the common good. This year, seven recipients are recognized.

“This year’s awardees exemplify the highest standards of leadership, innovation, service, and mentorship,” said ASHG president, Sarah Tishkoff, PhD. “I am honored to recognize their visionary contributions and tireless efforts that continue to unite and advance the biomedical community. These seven remarkable individuals inspire us to expand the boundaries of what’s possible in human genetics and genomics research. Congratulations to each of you on this well-deserved honor.”

Award winners will be recognized during awards ceremonies at the 2025 Annual Meeting on October 14-18 in Boston. Press registration for ASHG 2025 is now open.

ASHG Education Award

 

Audrey Hendricks, PhD

The ASHG Education Award recognizes outstanding contributions to human genetics education. Dr. Hendricks is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Colorado Anschutz in Aurora, Colo. with additional appointments in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics and the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. She is recognized for her work to support students of all backgrounds in their human genetics and genomics education. Dr. Hendricks is the founder and co-director of two training programs which encourage students to learn the principles of genetics and begin their careers in academia or industry. She is also co-founder of the 5-year degree program which leads to a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Statistics at University of Colorado, Denver. Throughout her career, she has taught more than 20 courses as the sole instructor and mentored dozens of undergraduates, post-graduates or junior faculty. Learn more about Dr. Hendricks’ work.
