Elizabeth Kudron, MD, MPH, FAAP, assistant professor of biomedical informatics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, has been named the associate clinic medical director for the Child Health Clinic (CHC), the primary care medical home at Children's Hospital Colorado.
"I'm thrilled to take on this new role. As a pediatrician, I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to the area I'm most passionate about," says Kudron.
The position will focus on clinical operations and quality improvement. Kudron will work with the Clinic Medical Director, Dan Nicklas, MD, to improve pediatric care while integrating an informatics approach.
"My current role as the associate director for program education for Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine (CCPM) has equipped me to apply my skills in a new setting. At CCPM, I work with a multidisciplinary team to optimize the return of clinically relevant information, considering how to introduce new elements effectively. This new role emphasizes improving the clinical environment by thinking about how you change medicine and interface information to a team so they can function better." adds Kudron.
“Dr. Kudron and other practicing clinicians add tremendous value to DBMI by offering insight into important clinical and operational problems that could be addressed with informatics approaches and implementing informatics solutions in partnership with health systems. Congratulations to Dr. Kudron for her new clinical leadership role. This will only add to the impact she has on our campus,” adds Tell Bennett, MD, MS, vice chair of clinical informatics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
As the new associate clinic medical director, Kudron will work closely with CHC’s clinical leadership team to enhance operations to help clinicians and staff provide the highest quality pediatric care at the patient's bedside.
About the Child Health Clinic
The Child Health Clinic team has over 75 physicians, nurses, residents, and advanced practice providers dedicated to caring for children from birth to adolescence in the Denver metropolitan area. They focus on enhancing children's health, training future pediatricians, and conducting vital clinical research to promote better health outcomes.
Kudron noted, "It's a large team that includes clinicians, physicians, nurses, psychologists, schedulers, triage staff, and front desk personnel, among others. I'm excited to work with such a diverse operation and improve processes to better serve our patients."
The clinic offers comprehensive services, including disease prevention, hearing and vision screenings, nutritional counseling, laboratory testing, acute care visits, physical exams, developmental assessments, and breastfeeding support. Additionally, they provide social work services and a medical-legal program. They also feature co-located mental health services that provide consultations with behavioral health and psychiatry specialists.
Looking ahead to the future of the CHC
Kudron explained that she is excited to focus on learning by listening to those around her. Her priority from day one is to meet with people to understand the current landscape and get to know her new team. "I'm focused on leading in a new way by identifying areas for improvement and adding value to enhance our processes," she says.
Kudron shared, "I love my work and strive to balance clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. Even when I'm not physically present in the clinic, I will work to ensure that we continue to benefit from our efforts. We are a multidisciplinary clinic serving a diverse population, including out-of-state patients who come to us for our high level of care. Our patients deserve the best from all of us."
