U.S. News Ranks Pediatric Surgical Specialties Provided by DOS Faculty Among Nation’s Best

Three pediatric surgical specialties ranked in top 10

U.S. News and World Report released its 2020-21 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings this week, placing three pediatric surgical specialties at Children’s Hospital Colorado provided by University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Surgery faculty in the top 10, including No. 1 for gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery.

Also, cardiology and heart surgery placed No. 6 and urology placed No. 8 in this year’s rankings of specialty areas.

“We are very proud that pediatric surgery is part of this recognition,” said Thomas Inge, M.D., Ph.D., division head of Pediatric Surgery. “This is a really great achievement and recognizes the team’s hard work and dedication to provide the best patient care and outcomes.”

The annual U.S. News Best Children's Hospitals rankings were introduced in 2007 and offers guidance for families of children seeking the best medical care for rare or life-threatening illnesses. The top 50 medical centers are ranked in 10 specialties surveyed on nearly 2,000 data questions as well as a reputation survey sent to thousands of pediatric specialists nationwide.
