The University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine’s (DFM) footprint extends well beyond the borders of the Anschutz Medical Campus.

One prime example takes us to the Western Slope of Colorado and St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.

That’s where you will find the Medical Family Therapy Fellowship and Internship, co-sponsored by DFM and St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency.

This intensive behavioral health fellowship provides a year-long experience for two fellows. The program exists in tandem with the St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency which provides diversified training in integrated services.

Fellowship administrators work closely with DFM to recruit candidates and advance the program curriculum.

Randall Reitz, PhD, runs the ship and says that the program is in its 8th year of training and graduating highly qualified behavioral health experts (family therapists and social workers).  The majority of the graduates have taken faculty positions in residencies and graduate schools, others have joined primary care practices that offer integrated services.

Congratulations to the programs most recent graduates, doctoral fellow, Jessica Stephen Premo and post-masters intern, Candace Henrikson. And, welcome to the new recruits, post-masters interns, Cara Pozun and Miranda Newman.
