The 20th anniversary of the PC Days at CU Anschutz Medical Campus was a fantastic success! The planning committee brought together CU Anschutz palliative care experts in research, clinical, and education to provide an exceptional learning and networking opportunity for palliative care community specialists. From the PC Education world, students and alumni of the CU Anschutz PC educational programs attended and connected with their colleagues. This year, the conference was able to provide CE’s for a range of interprofessional PC clinicans.
Over 80 interprofessional students, clinicians, researchers and educators participated in the 2-day conference. Dr. Maria Silveira served as the keynote on both days, presenting “Lung Cancer, CA Symptoms, and Telehealth for Lung Cancer” and “Right Care, Right Time: Leveraging SMART Trial Designs to Optimize Adaptive Interventions in PC”. A variety of disciplines of palliative care research fellows, scientists, and research personnel from the VA, UCHealth, Boulder Community Hospital, and CU Anschutz presented innovative research topics and shared posters with attendees. Traditional PC clinical fellows, CHPM fellows, IPCC/MSPC students, clinicians, educators, and researcher socialized at T Street Grill for a PC Education-sponsored happy hour on Thursday afternoon.
On the clinically focused day two, PC specialists presented topics such as balance and boundaries, moral distress, and interprofessional symptom management. Several of our PC Educational program faculty presented, including Elissa Kolva PhD, Jana Miner MA, Harri Brackett CNS, Melissa Palmer JD, and Laurel Tropeano LCSW.
