Grant will help new CU eight-year medical-training track fill Colorado physician gaps


The University of Colorado established a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science-Doctor of Medicine (BA/BS-MD) program in 2010 to cultivate more physicians to serve Colorado’s underserved communities. This month, a $1.88 million Colorado Health Foundation grant gives the BA/BS-MD program a critical boost—providing funding for the eight-year curriculum track beginning with undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Denver Campus, and concluding at the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

College of Nursing announces two Nightingale Luminary Award finalists

The annual Nightingale Luminary Awards recognize  excellence in nursing professional engagement and citizenship. This year, three University of Colorado College of Nursing professionals were nominees: assistant professors Jennifer Hensley, CNM, MSN, EdD, and Teresa Sakraida, PhD, RN, as well as PhD student, Tanya Tanner. Sakraida and Tanner were named finalists.

New combo lung cancer therapy improves survival over single-line treatment

A combination therapy for treating cancer discovered at the University of Colorado Cancer Center showed improved survival rates in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), according to results from a double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial run by Syndax Pharmaceuticals.
