Gift Announcement in Honor of Dr. Stephen Berman's Legacy

minute read

The CU Office of Advancement is pleased to announce gifts totaling $2 million from Steve Berman and Elaine Gantz Berman, and friends and family of Dr. Berman to establish the Stephen Berman, MD, Endowed Chair for Global Health.

Stephen Berman, MD, was a pediatrician, professor of pediatrics and epidemiology at the CU School of Medicine and director of the Center for Global Health in the Colorado School of Public Health. His vision for the Center of Global Health was to make a major contribution to improving the health and welfare of the world’s poorest populations. Through his work connecting students, researchers and programs across campus, Dr. Berman amplified global awareness of maternal and child health and expanded the reach of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

This gift honors Dr. Berman’s legacy by supporting a faculty endowed chair for the director of the Center for Global Health. The outstanding faculty member holding the chair will collaborate with partners in research, education and health services to continue Dr. Berman’s work of developing transformative interventions for global health problems.

This meaningful gift to establish the Stephen Berman, MD, Endowed Chair for Global Health would not have been possible without the generosity of resources and time from Elaine Gantz Berman and Megan Cooke in the Office of Advancement.
