“We have been seeing a flurry of activity much before we anticipated. We’re starting to see flu cases much before that we typically see around November or December of each year,” said Edwin Asturias, a pediatric infectious disease physician at the Colorado School of Public Health. This is a good time, he said, for people to be ready for the flu season that comes as soon as the vaccine is already here. “I think we may have an earlier season than other years in the past,” said Asturias, a former member of the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
