Danae Massengill, a pediatric toxicologist at Children’s Hospital Colorado, said rattlesnake bites can be especially dangerous for small children. Massengill said venom can cause extensive tissue damage, dangerous blood clotting issues and severe systemic reactions that can rapidly destabilize patients.
