Barry H. Rumack, MD, (Professor Emeritus), has been awarded the 2023 Prince Mahidol Award in the field of Public Health.
Dr. Rumack is recognized for his groundbreaking work in clinical toxicology, specifically in the study of paracetamol overdose.
He created the Rumack-Matthews nomogram, which has allowed doctors worldwide to appropriately diagnose paracetamol toxicity and formed a treatment protocol that became the global standard for managing paracetamol toxicity.
Dr. Rumack has also been influential in the field of medical toxicology, pioneering the use of Poisindex as a poison information database and advancing patient management.
