Hats off to the CU Pharmacy Class of 2016! This year, 149 students from the entry-level PharmD program and 63 from the distance degree program received their Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. Eleven students received their Doctor of Philosophy.

Held at the Denver Performing Arts Complex in the Boettcher Concert Hall, speakers included Dean Ralph Altiere, Chancellor’s Teaching Recognition Award recipient Dr. Scott Mueller, President's Excellence in Teaching Award recipient Dr. Robert Page, and graduating P-4 Matthew McClure.

In Mueller’s speech, he impressed upon them the value of their education and where it will take them (and, hopefully, how it will bring them back to the School someday), while Page reminisced about the class and the profession.

“You are all my rockstars. I never want you to apologize for who you are or what you believe in,” said Page. “This profession is full of a network of friends and colleagues. I want you to take every opportunity to love, to laugh, and to be loved. Go and rock the world, and show them what the Class of 2016 can do!”

As for McClure’s speech? Well, just take a look below.

Graduate's husband shares special message

And one student, Joanna Pavlik, who's husband is on active duty and wasn't able to make it to commencement in person, received this special message from him as she walked across the stage:

"Joanna, congratulations on this momentous occasion. Through your hard work and dedication, you have achieved your goal and are truly an inspiration for your family and friends. I miss you more than words can describe and can't wait to come back home to you and Chelsie. I love you babe! Enjoy your special day!”
