Spring Break 2016 One Student's Adventure

As a pharmacy student, it is crucial to have a sound work/school/life balance, and any break is a good one. After a week of presentations and exams, Spring Break 2016 finally arrived. I quickly packed up all of my backpacking gear and hit the road with my sister. Our week’s schedule was simple, but busy; hike the Grand Canyon, spend a day in Las Vegas, and backpack Zion National Park. Check out my trip in pictures from the start in Boulder to a beautiful moonlit night in McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area.

Flip through the photo gallery that shows my recent spring break adventure from the start in Boulder with my dog, Valentino, who was helping me pack my tent as he thought he was coming along! However, I don’t think he would fare too well on a 20-mile Grand Canyon hike, to the Grand Canyon and mid-step on my way down the South Kaibab Trail, to fly fishing on the Colorado River and a great view of the city of Las Vegas, to camping in Zion National Park -- Brrrr!  We began to prepare ourselves for the cold night by drinking cups of boiling water to stay warm. It ended up being 15 degrees Fahrenheit that night; sure made us thankful to have heating systems in our homes back in Colorado!

All in all, this was a fantastic trip and I highly recommend spending some time exploring our nation's National Parks while in pharmacy school. It is a great way to take a break from the hectic life of a pharmacy student and enjoy nature!
