Did you know the Staff Council at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus plays a crucial role in our institution’s shared governance system? An elected body, the Staff Council collaborates with faculty, students and the CU Board of Regents to shape policies and procedures governing the CU System.

Nominations Open Now

Staff Council is seeking members now, and the call for nominations is open through April 25, 2025. All those interested in making a difference are encouraged to apply. Members serve three-year terms and have numerous committees to take part in. If you are passionate about advocating for staff and enhancing our workplace culture, nominate yourself or a colleague to serve.

Help Shape the Future

The Staff Council has a hand in staff advocacy, cross-campus communication, professional development, staff appreciation and employee recognition, and enhancing the campus experience for staff.

Advocating for Staff

Staff Council members help represent the interests and concerns of CU Anschutz staff and help shape policies that impact their work lives.

“I enjoy being part of the Staff Council because it’s an opportunity to advocate on behalf of staff across campus,” says CU Anschutz Staff Council Chair Angela Kirkpatrick. “It’s also a wonderful conduit to show appreciation to staff for all of the work they do in helping the faculty advance their respective fields.”

Facilitating Communication

A key function of the Staff Council is to facilitate information exchange. Members work with the Chancellor's Office, the CU Board of Regents, the CU President's Office, administrative officers, and the Colorado State Personnel Board, fostering a transparent and inclusive environment.

CU Anschutz Staff Council Communications Officer Shelly Lange says, "Working with campus leadership is so rewarding. Knowing they truly value the staff that work so diligently to keep the campus up and running makes our efforts worthwhile."

Enhancing the Campus Experience

Through advocacy and communication efforts, the Staff Council enhances the campus experience, creating a supportive and dynamic workplace.

“I joined the Staff Council to advocate for staff interests, promote recognition, and foster a positive workplace culture,” says Isabella Jaramillo, chair of the Staff Appreciation and Recognition Committee. “This experience has developed my leadership skills and helped create a more inclusive and supportive environment. It's incredibly rewarding to see the tangible impact of our efforts on our staff members' lives."
