Match Day Results were announced for the Department of Medicine's Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. 

Match Day results for the Department of Medicine’s residency program were announced today. The time-honored tradition of Match Day is filled with great anticipation for medical students, who find out which residency program they will are matched to and will begin after graduation.

Internal Medicine Residency Match Results

“I’m thrilled to announce the results of this year’s Internal Medicine Resident Match,” said Geoffrey R. Connors, MD, FACP, Internal Medicine Residency Program director. “Once again, the University of Colorado Internal Medicine program is going to be infused with the energy, excitement, and talent from another fantastic group of incoming doctors. The interns who will arrive here in June are incredible.”

  • The 72 incoming interns (Categorical, Primary Care, Hospitalist, Physician-Scientist, and Preliminary Tracks) hail from 27 states and Brazil and represent 41 different medical schools.

  • 24% of the incoming class comes from groups that are underrepresented in medicine - the largest group of URiM interns in the program’s history.

  • 54% are women.

Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Match Results

This spring, four medical students will join the Medicine-Pediatrics inter class, joining their next phase of their medical careers—Troy Kincaid, MD, University of Colorado; Helen Queenan, MD, Howard University; Elizabeth Stein, MD, University of Washington; and Joaquin Alfonso Villaruz, MD, University of Wisconsin.

“I am confident that they will contribute to the strength of both categorical residency programs, shape the future of our Med-Peds program, and impact the communities where they will live and work,” said Julie Venci, MD, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program director. “We are so fortunate to have these incredible individuals bring their passion and talents to the University of Colorado.
